As teachers, you understand the importance of lesson warm ups, bell ringers, or Do Nows to set the tone for the lesson. How can you use Web 2.0 tools to raise the energy level of your students, check prior knowledge, and create a positive atmosphere at the onset? You also know that lesson closure can help you check for understanding, emphasize key information, tie up loose ends, and correct any misunderstandings your students may have. When considering instructional strategies to create engaging and interactive lessons, consider Web 2.0 tools as extensions of your lessons to reinforce the skills or concepts taught. This session, therefore, will introduce Web 2.0 tools to create warm ups and closure activities that are interactive and engaging. In addition, you will be introduced to tools you can use to integrate within your lessons as instructional strategies to create engaging student activities. You will also learn about a creative method to store data. This session will cover the following categories in which Web 2.0 tools can be utilized: • Polling and Brain Storming • Lesson Closure/Exit Slips • Presentation tools • Video tools • Mind Maps/Organizing • Collaboration
