Webb’s Depth of Knowledge (DOK) is all about cognitive complexity and how students interact with content. Each level is dependent upon how deeply students understand and engage with the content in order to respond to higher-order questions and demonstrate learning. Participants will understand what cognitive complexity looks like in instruction, through the lens of DOK. One of the reasons most students don’t think rigorously is that they are not taught to do so. Participants will learn how to plan lessons that provide students the opportunity to build their capacity for higher levels of DOK and master rigorous standards.

This session will delve into culturally responsive pedagogy that supports students in rigorous learning through the Four Pillars of Culturally Responsive Teaching: Relationships, Responsiveness, Rigor and Regulation. Participants selected for this session will be committed to attend the entire five-part series.
